Today is World Cancer Day.

It’s a day to raise awareness, encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

Here at Lounge, something we hold incredibly close to our hearts is the our #FeelYourBreast campaign, in which we told the stories of ten incredible women, all of whom had an experience they were able to share with our Female Family, to empower you, support you and most of all give you the confidence and awareness you need to get all kinds of close and comfy with your body.

So, we decided it was time to bring our Legends back together again. It was a day of catch-ups, yummy food, belly laughs, and most importantly: a day to continue raising awareness for an incredible cause.

Here’s what our girls had to say from this beautiful day;

What do days like today mean to you?

“Everything! My Female Family mean the world to me. They have given me a new level of confidence & support. To all be together is priceless.” Nicky

“The world. It feels like I’m with my extended family. Being surrounded by humans who get it and want to support you makes my heart so full.” Georgie

What did it mean to you taking part in the #FeelYourBreast Campaign?

“The impact & reception was incredible - unbelievable! To be part of something showing the diversity of the cancer experience and portray it without filter was so important. Lounge listened to us and heard us. They showed us, not an idea of us. It was also the first time I got to publicly speak about feeling seen as a queer woman who had cancer! It felt so powerful and freeing. The photography reflected the diversity; body types, skin colour & all the other stuff you can’t see.” Em

“It was an honour to share my experience, especially with such a huge audience. To help inform and educate others while feeling empowered.” Angel

Do you have any exciting life updates to fill us in on?

“My cancer work continues & my next exhibition featuring portraits of Bame Cancer patients has been commissioned by the Tate Gallery! (No one knows that yet!)” Leanne

“I got a job! Finally! A huge personal hurdle for me after cancer.” Dizzy

“I should be launching my own business very soon!” Angel

“I’ve returned to work and I feel like I’m in the next stage of recovery. In the next couple of months I’ll be starting an LGBTQ+ cancer movement with some others & co-hosting a Trekstock lifting the lid on the subject.” Em

“Secondary Sisters has taken off in a big way. My cancer sister & I are helping more and more people with secondary cancer and with that we are changing the perception of incurable cancer.” Nicky

“I am CANCER FREE - for the 2nd time!” Georgie

What is one thing you will take away from this experience?

“Friendships for life. And the knowledge that there are ethical companies out there!” Leanne

“We are stronger together & stronger than ever!” Dizzy

“That surrounding yourself with good people has a great impact on your outlook on life. Always be kind.” Angel

What is the best piece of advice you can give to our Female Family about checking your breasts?

“Don’t be frightened about what you might find. Breast cancer is very treatable & you will not be alone. There is a massive community ready and waiting for you. Big love to my Lounge Family! You are all QUEENS!” Nicky

We also decided to catch up with our two incredible representatives from both CoppaFeel (Hami) and Trekstock (Emma)! Women who work hard every single day to ensure that people like you have the support and the love that you need. Here’s what they had to say;

From a personal perspective, what has today meant to you?

“I’m still in awe of everything Lounge achieved with this campaign. It was amazing too all be together to celebrate what an incredible thing these humans did. I love the Female Family!” Emma

“Being in a room with so many strong and incredible women (and Ed - sorry!) is so inspiring. I have loved every minute, chatting to everyone - it really does feel like I’m part of a Female Family.” Hami

We understand every donation counts! Could you give a little insight into where donations go and how much of a difference they make?

“Trekstock supports young adults with cancer and the amount raised has made a huge difference to us. We are a small team with a big job to do and we couldn’t do this without fantastic support like this,. Trekstock gets young adults moving again when cancer stops them in their tracks. We do this through an exercise programme, social & psychological support, and uniting people together. The campaign donations will help us reach even more young adults than ever before.” Emma

“Every donation allows us to continue to spread awareness - shouting about checking your boobs/pecs, and sending out reminders via text, or our new Boob Bot tool. Without support from incredible brands like Lounge Underwear, we wouldn’t be able to reach individuals with a potentially life-saving message.” Hami

How does it feel when companies create campaigns such as ‘Feel Your Breast’ and help spread awareness for such an important cause? Do you think this is helping to normalise the process and make it less ‘taboo’?

“Campaigns like ‘Feel Your Breast’ reinforce people’s understanding of boob checking and help to make it part of everyday life - as it should be! Every post helps to normalise boob-checking and getting the support from Lounge Underwear is just incredible, We feel so fortunate to be part of the Female Family.” Hami

What is the best piece of advice you could give to someone who may feel embarrassed or unsure about checking their breasts?

It’s always better to get to know your body and be the best advocate for your health. We all get embarrassed at times but feel the fear and do it anyway! Their is so much information out there and CoppaFeel can help walk you through it.” Emma

We cannot thank our Legends enough for making this day so incredibly special.

Here at Lounge, we will continue to raise awareness for this unbelievably important cause, ensuring our Female Family around the world always have the support and information they need.
